Overview
Alcuin Partners, a London-based financial services firm, partnered with DENTON to deliver a high-end office fit out at 75 Knightsbridge Gate. The client required a premium, client-facing office environment that reflected their brand, supported business growth and enhanced employee experience.
The project combined workplace design, interior fit out and office furniture solutions within a heritage building. DENTON focused on delivering a responsible office design that balances high-performance workspaces with sustainable, ethical and efficient use of materials and lighting, while preserving the building’s traditional character.
The Brief
Having outgrown its previous office, Alcuin Partners relocated to 75 Knightsbridge Gate to create a workplace better suited to its current needs and future direction.
The new site brought with it a distinctive set of heritage features that were central to the brief. Rather than competing with the building’s existing character, the approach was to preserve and highlight it, using minimal intervention and a restrained palette of neutral finishes to create a more contemporary working environment.
Client and visitor experience were also important considerations. The office needed to provide a welcoming arrival, professional meeting spaces and a workplace that felt both polished and practical for day-to-day use.
The Approach
DENTON adopted a light-touch office design strategy, ensuring minimal intervention to the building’s structure while improving functionality, wellbeing and sustainability. The workspace was carefully zoned to align with business needs and architectural character:
To improve both workplace wellbeing and environmental responsibility, internal glazing systems and half-height partitions were introduced, allowing natural light to flow through the office and reduce reliance on artificial lighting.
The Solution
The design strategy was built around the contrast between the building’s historic core and its more recent additions. The most opulent heritage spaces were used for conference rooms, allowing original architectural details to become a focal point in the client-facing areas of the office. The more recent parts of the floorplate were used for open-plan workspace, creating a lighter and more flexible environment for the wider team.
At the point of entrance, a suite of meeting rooms and a refreshment point establish a more considered welcome experience. This gives clients and visitors an immediate sense of arrival while supporting the practical needs of the business.
Throughout the scheme, finishes associated with the historic parts of the building were referenced to create continuity, while internal glazing was used wherever possible to bring borrowed light into darker areas. Softer, warmer lighting was used in the historic spaces to complement the original architecture, while brighter lighting supports the open-plan work areas and reinforces a clear distinction between formal and day-to-day settings. General workspace areas were kept light and bright, with workstations positioned to benefit from views out through the building’s arched windows.
The Results
The completed office gives Alcuin Partners a workplace that feels more aligned with its growth and position in the market, while making full use of the character and quality of its new Knightsbridge setting.
By combining heritage features with a contemporary design language, the project creates a professional and welcoming environment for clients and visitors, alongside a bright and effective workplace for the team. The result is a London office that feels distinctive, considered and well suited to the firm’s next stage.
